Breast Cancer Awareness Month at Captains Quarters Resort
Captain’s Quarters Resort is participating in Breast Cancer Awareness Month all through October.
The resort will be collecting donations from guests as well as incorporating some fun and creative ways to raise money and awareness.
Pumpkins decorated by each department at the resort are on display in the lobby. Decorated by employees, the pumpkins were revealed on Oct. 1 after a moment of silence and prayer held in the lobby.
Now that the pumpkins have been revealed, staff members, guests at the resort and anyone from the community who wishes to participate by voting may do so by donating money to the jar for their favorite pumpkin. The pumpkin with the most money in their jar at the end of the month will be the winner with all donations going towards cancer research, support and awareness.
In addition to the pumpkin challenge, each Friday will be “Pink Out Friday” during the month of October. This means that employees are allowed to wear pink shirts, socks, ties, glasses and other fun pink clothing items on Fridays. Employees who wish to wear jeans on these Fridays may also do so by donating $5 towards the American Cancer Society.
For those with a sweet tooth, Captain’s Quarters will be hosting an in-house bake sale silent auction amongst its staff members in mid-October. Employees will bake their favorite desserts and display them in Vista 9. All employees as well as any in-house snowbirds may bid on these items.
Captain’s Quarters Resort’s restaurant, Loco Gecko, will also be participating in Breast Cancer Awareness Month. They will be offering two special menu items including a limited time pink drink and a pink waffle dessert with cherry drizzle and a scoop of ice cream.
All proceeds and donations gathered throughout the month through these special Captain’s Quarters initiatives will go towards the American Cancer Society.
