4 Best Water Parks in Myrtle Beach

If you thought the beach was the only place to have water fun in Myrtle Beach, think again! Peel away from the sandy coasts to explore the wet and wild excitement of water parks in Myrtle Beach. The freshwater fun includes water slides with heart-racing drops, themed pools for relaxation, and kiddie pools for the little ones.

Water parks are a must-do when visiting the Grand Strand coast with your family. It gives you an alternative to a beach getaway at Myrtle Beach and a place to create even more family memories on your trip.

We’ve picked out the five best parks near Captain’s Quarters Resort.

1. Captain’s Quarters Resort

  • Known as: The best family-friendly kids’ water park in Myrtle Beach.

  • Address: 901 S Ocean Blvd, Myrtle Beach, SC

  • Website: captainsquarters.com/amenities

Oyster named us the #1 best kid-friendly hotel in Myrtle Beach thanks to the range of fun amenities we have available for our young guests. Water park fun is closer than ever when staying with us because we offer one of the best kids’ water experiences in town—just steps from your Captain’s Quarter suite!

Our complex includes an on-site kids’ water park area with 15 water features for family fun. Kids will love splashing around the Shipwreck Lagoon Kids’ Waterpark for a pirate-themed water adventure. Go with the flow this vacation floating down the seasonal outdoor lazy river or the heated 232-foot indoor lazy river. Sunbathe on the pool deck. And the ocean is just a pebble’s toss away at our ocean-view Tower Outdoor Pool.

We keep some of our water features open year-round. The tropical-themed Island Pool is an excellent place for swimming or heating up your holidays in one of our four hot tubs.

Our water attractions are open daily from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. with free access during your entire stay. We also have pool towels for guests, so feel free to leave yours behind. Read our tips for a smooth check-in so you can dive into our kids’ water park fun as soon as you arrive.

2. Myrtle Waves Water Park

  • Known as: The largest water park in Myrtle Beach.

  • Address: 3000 Mr. Joe White Ave, Myrtle Beach, SC

  • Website: myrtlewaves.com

Arrive early to maximize your time at Myrtle Waves Water Park, which is open during the summer months. Covering nearly 900,000 square feet of park area, it’s the largest in South Carolina! You’ll need all the time you can get to hit as many of the rides as you can.

This water park is conveniently located right on the Grand Strand across from Broadway at the Beach, a shopping and entertainment complex just 10 minutes away from Captain’s Quarters Resort. It’s the longest-running provider of water park fun with more than 30 years in business.

Spend your day splish-splashing between 30 slides and attractions for the whole family. There are a dozen water slides to choose from. Go for body-sliding fun on the open-top Riptide Rockets, or feel the twists and turns while spiraling down the Turbo Twisters. Plop down into a tube for a two-person half-pipe experience on the Rockin Ray and swirl around the bowl-shaped Arooba Tooba. Race against each other on Snake Mountain to see who splashes first into the pool below.

In addition to slides, the park has other water thrill rides. Test your balance while surfing the FlowRider® and bob for breaths in the six-foot-deep Ocean in Motion Wave Pool—it’s the largest in the state!

3. Splashes Waterpark at Family Kingdom Amusement Park

  • Known as: The best water coaster in Myrtle Beach.

  • Address: 300 S Ocean Blvd, Myrtle Beach, SC

  • Website: familykingdomfun.com

Heads up – the fun ecosystem at the seaside Family Kingdom Amusement Park changes constantly! Although it recently got rid of the Splashes Oceanfront Water Park in favor of new rides built in 2023, there’s still plenty of wild water fun you can enjoy. With more than 35 rides scattered around the park grounds, you’ll find a handful of water coasters and rides for all ages.

The O.D. Hopkins Log Flume is one of the park’s most popular rides that seats you in a log-style coaster before plunging into a splashing drop. Disclaimer: you will get wet!

Smaller kids can ride laps around the shallow canal of the Wet Boats. Bring out your competitive side while competing with your family members in a round of bumper boats. Fire up your water guns and bump other riders into the rain tree. Whoever is the wettest treats the first round of Dippin’ Dots!

We recommend getting the All Day Unlimited Ride Wristband to enjoy other park attractions like the Swamp Fox wooden roller coaster.

4. Shark Wake Aqua Park

  • Known as: The best aqua park in Myrtle Beach.

  • Address: 150 Citizens Circle, Little River, SC

  • Website: sharkwakepark.com

Take water park fun to the next level at the Shark Wake Aqua Park. Unlike your typical water park, this aqua park immerses you in natural water fun with various pop-up activities. It’s home to the largest floating obstacle course on the Atlantic Coast and tons of other rides to get your adrenaline rushing.

Located in the North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex, this unique park is set up seasonally in the 25-acre lake. It has two main features: Obstacle Island and Cable Park. No experience is necessary for either area, so you can jump right into the fun!

You have 50 minutes of maneuvering your way through the wet obstacle course. You’re sure to fall in the water a few times while navigating the series of monkey bars, slides, and climbing towers. Zip across the water surface in Cable Park. Hold on tight while leaping in the air on a wakeboard and kick up waves with your water skis. You’ll get a quick lesson on how to ride in case it’s your first time attempting any of the cable water sports.
