2015 Thanksgiving at Captain’s Quarters Resort

Thanksgiving is a great time to take your family to Myrtle Beach! The crowds are gone and you can take all the stress out of the holiday by enjoying a meal that you don’t even have to worry about preparing or cleaning up after.

This year Thanksgiving falls on Thursday November 24, 2015, and Myrtle Beach is gearing up for some great festivities.

Consider these nearby options when planning your Thanksgiving at the beach!

Myrtle Beach Activities and Events

The annual and very popular Surfside Rotary Turkey Trot draws more than 1,300 participants and will begin with packet pickup at 7 a.m. followed by the various races on Thanksgiving morning. Beginning at the Surfside Beach Pier parking lot, only a short drive from Captain’s Quarters, it will feature a 10K, 5K, 1 mile and a free 50-yard Kid's Tot Trot. Registration fees vary based on the race you choose and when you register ranging from $15 - $40.

A second race option is the Grand Strand Turkey Trot, featuring more than 1,200 runners on Thanksgiving Day starting at 8 a.m. This race will take place at the nearby Market Common and will raise money for the Myrtle Beach Humane Society.

Planning on doing some shopping at nearby Broadway at the Beach on Black Friday? You’re in luck because there will be a fireworks show on November 26 at 8 p.m. This fun, free show is great for the whole family.

If you’d rather sit back and enjoy some fabulous music, you may want to check out the 47th Annual South Carolina State Bluegrass Festival held at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center November 24 - 26. Offering the option of reserved seating or general admission, this event features a large variety of musicians including Dailey & Vincent, The Spinney Brothers, Big Country Bluegrass, The Grascals and Lonesome River Band just to name a few. Reserved adult tickets are $45 per day and general admission adult tickets are $40 per day. There are also special ticket prices for children ages 7 to 15, while children under 7 are free with a parent. Parking at the event is $5 per vehicle.

Holidays on the Boardwalk will kick off on November 26 and run through the end of the year. It will start with a lighting ceremony in Plyler Park on November 26.
