Cinco de Mayo at Captain’s Quarters Resort


Cinco de Mayo is cause for a fiesta no matter where you are, but if you’re vacationing in Myrtle Beach that’s even more of a reason to load up on chips and salsa and celebrate.

Burrofest and the Stache Dash

The main event that you’ll want to check out is Fiesta del Burro Loco’s Burrofest. This all-day event is the fiesta to end all fiestas. With live bands, food and drink specials and more, this is THE place to celebrate Mexico’s independence with a crowd. Burrofest also includes the 5 “que” Stache Dash on May 3. This trail walk/run encourages mustaches and sombreros and all of the proceeds will help benefit the Grand Strand Humane Society located just down the road from the restaurant. So if you’re looking for a major party on Cinco de Mayo, make sure to check out Burro Loco.



Carlos'n Charlies Cinco De Mayo Fiesta 5k

What better way to kick off a fiesta than running around Broadway at the Beach? Carlos'n Charlies is sponsoring a 5 k race and family fun run on Sunday, May 4. In addition to a t-shirt, gift bag and lots of fun, the race also includes a Mexican-inspired breakfast buffet afterwards.  The race helps support the Pee Dee March of Dimes. Once the race is over you can stick around Carlos'n Charlies and enjoy their huge menu filled with lots of Mexican favorites, including house specials like the Chimichanga Charlie’s which has chicken, carne asada and chorizo or their famous sopa de tortilla azteca (tortilla soup). If you leave here hungry or feeling like you didn’t get your fill of Mexican food you did something wrong. Plus with your VMB card you can get even more food and for free! Senor Frogs

Senor Frogs, located at Broadway at the Beach, is sure to be hopping for Cinco de Mayo. At this Mexican-inspired laid back restaurant you can enjoy tacos, nachos, burritos, chimichangas and fajitas to your hearts content. Plus since you’re staying at a VMB resort, Captain’s Quarters, so long as you bring your Vacation Myrtle Beach discounts card (also your room key) you can get free chef’s nachos with your entrée purchase! Ole!



Salsaritas

This new VMB card restaurant serves up fresh and made-to-order Mexican food every day. So of course it is a perfect place to go on Cinco de Mayo. You can order from their signature entrees like the steak nacho cantizza (a Mexican-style pizza with steak, jalopenos and queso) or you can make your own burrito, taco, salad, nachos, cantizza, quesadilla, casarito and anything else you can come up with while looking at their array of ingredients. And you can enjoy the fiesta for your tummy even more if you bring your room key since as your VMB card it will get you 10% off your entire check!



Loco Gecko

If you're looking to stay very close to "home" you can also head across the street to Loco Gecko Beach Shak. This restaurant is sure to be serving up margarita's, tasty nachos, chips with salsa or guacamole and other Mexican-inspired items.
