Top Fall Events For Foodies

Greek Fest in Myrtle BeachFall is a popular time for many families to visit the beach. The weather is quite agreeable, with temperatures still comfortably in the 70’s, and the crowds have diminished, giving guests plenty of elbow room to get out and enjoy everything the beach has to offer. Curious about what there is to do in Myrtle Beach outside of the summer season that also involves some delicious foods? Check out a roundup of the top fall events, many of which happen right near our family friendly resort:

Greek Festival – September 25th – 28th

Opa! Gather your crew and head to St. John’s Greek Orthodox Church, located right off 29th Avenue North in Myrtle Beach, to partake in the 23rd annual Greek Festival. This lively 3-day event offers several local arts and craft vendors, inflatables and activities for children, live Greek music and dancing, and plenty of authentic Greek cuisine. Indulge in savory favorites like tyropitakia, pastitsio, moussaka, souvlaki, and sweet treats like baklava and galaktoboureko. (Don’t worry – you don’t have to be able to pronounce the cuisine to enjoy it!) This tasty festival is fun for the whole family; just stop by between 11am – 9pm on Thursday, 11am – 10pm on Friday and Saturday, or 12pm – 7pm on Sunday to take part in the fun.

Irish Italian Festival – September 27th

This seemingly odd combination actually represents one of the tastiest festivals that you can find anywhere along the east coast! Head to Main Street in North Myrtle Beach on Saturday, September 27th to see what all the buzz is about. This festival offers exciting games and competitions, including a spaghetti eating competition and contests for “best entrée” and “best dessert”, live entertainment and roaming street performers, arts and crafts vendors, and plenty of succulent fare. Nosh on everything from handmade ravioli and pastas, zesty meatballs, and tiramisu to corned beef and cabbage, shepherd’s pie, and Irish coffee cake – and everything in between. This event runs from 10am – 4pm and is a rain or shine affair.

Oktoberfest – October 4th – 5th

The annual Oktoberfest celebration takes place at Market Common each fall and always draws a crowd. Kick start October on a high note with authentic German food and entertainment while enjoying the ideal fall beach weather. Where else in Myrtle Beach can you enjoy fresh Bavarian pretzels, bratwursts with sauerkraut, and warm apple strudel? Oktoberfest will also offer arts and crafts from local vendors, children’s games and activities, and the area’s largest selection of Oktoberfest beers. The fun runs from 4pm – 9pm on Friday and 11am – 7pm on Sunday.

Festa Italiana – October 10th – 12th

Connect with your inner Italian at Broadway at the Beach’s Festa Italiana. Authentic Italian food, just the way mama used to make it back in the old country, is the main draw of this colorful festival. Dig into classic favorites like flavorful lasagna, spicy sausage with peppers and onions, zesty meatball heros, wood fired pizzas, and tempting desserts like tiramisu, biscotti, and zeppolis. After you are full and happy, check out the Italian car show that will feature classics like Maseratis and Ferraris, or check out some of the fun family activities like face painting, arts and crafts, and live entertainment. This festival lasts from 5pm – 9pm on Friday, 12pm – 9pm on Saturday, and 12pm – 6pm on Saturday.
