Things to do near Captain’s Quarters in January
Escape the snow and ice and visit Myrtle Beach this winter. Even though it’s too chilly to lay on the beach, there is still plenty to do! Whether it’s listening to live music, dining out, or just exploring Myrtle Beach, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Restaurant Week—January 9-19th
Restaurant week comes to Myrtle Beach for a week of great food. Come try new things as restaurants offer special menus and prices for just this week. Participating restaurants are: Aspen Grill, Castano’s Italian Steakhouse, Croissants Bistro and Bakery and Ruth’s Chris Steak House.
Dino’s School of Rock—January 11th, House of Blues
If you’ve got little ones with you then come see the music students from Dino Capone’s School of Rock perform at the House of Blues. Your youngsters are sure to get a kick out of seeing other kids their age perform on this large stage. Admission is just $5 general admission and can be purchased at the House of Blues box office. Long Bay Symphony “Musical Narrative”—January 19th, Myrtle Beach High School Music & Arts Center
Let the music take you on a journey through stories as the symphony plays narrative masterpieces. From Shakespeare to a Biblical tale, the music will take you on an adventure through fiction for an enchanting night out. For tickets, call (843) 448-8379.
Taste of the Inlet—January 26th, Inlet Square Mall
Over 25 local restaurants will be serving their signature dishes as you sample and vote for your favorites. Experience the flavors of Murrells Inlet and Garden City Beach as they serve delicious hors d'oeuvres and appetizers. The Second Annual Taste of the Inlet will be held at the Murrells Inlet Mall from 6-9pm. The Murrells Inlet Mall is located south of Captain’s Quarters Resort with access from both Highway 17 Business and Bypass.
You can also take advantage of the milder weather of Myrtle Beach’s winter and visit Brookgreen Gardens. They will be having a few special exhibits this month. Explore cemeteries and learn different traditions of former slaves and plantation owner on the Silent Cities tour. Take a tour of the archaeological sites of the former plantation and see what they have uncovered in The Oaks Plantation History and Nature Trail. If you’d rather be indoors, there will be a sculpture exhibition “Equine Spirit: The Horse in American Art” that showcases the art from the Brookgreen collection as well as works by other renowned sculptors and painters.
