Ripley’s Haunted Adventure: A Captain’s Quarters Nearby Attraction

Ripley’s Haunted Adventure, is one of the favorite Halloween attractions in Myrtle Beach. And, located at 915 North Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach, it is close to Captain’s Quarters Myrtle Beach resort.

It is a multi-million dollar haunted house featuring live actors, animatronics and bone chilling special effects. The adventure has been the subject of mixed reviews from some of whom claim that kids should not be admitted. The attraction is open to children from 6 years and up. The construction of the set is high quality, and if you enjoy being scared it is definitely well worth a visit. It’s scary because the journey through the house is in the dark. It can be confusing and startling and you will be confronted with some disturbing images.

The scene is set in a building that was once occupied by a coffin maker and begins with a ride up to the 2nd floor in a caged escalator, where visitors are greeted by a host that has been described as a “pseudo-vampire”. He explains all the rules and tries to implant a feeling of uncertainty and fear. It is then a case of moving in a group through the darkened complex and coming up against such frightful beings as a strait-jacketed mental patient being given electric shock treatment. The patient, a dummy, clenches his teeth, bulges his eyes and jerks up and down beneath his constraints. You’ll find a disgusting troll that vomits with a sickening retching sound. There’s blood, gore, and plenty of scary scenes.

Ripley's Haunted Adventure will definitely be a hit if you are a haunted house fan, but it's not for the timid or those who are easily disturbed. It’s not as shocking as it could be, and the whole adventure only takes about 20 – 30 minutes. If you take your Myrtle Beach discounts card with you you’ll get $2 off of the $13.99 entrance fee. The attraction is open Sunday – Thursday 12 p.m. – 7 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays 12 p.m. – 8 p.m. But, the closing hours are contingent upon business from Oct. 25-31 and may vary.
