Restaurants Near Captain’s Quarters: Pier House Restaurant
When you’re staying at Captain’s Quarters and looking for a good restaurant that’s within walking distance, give the Pier House Restaurant a try.
The restaurant is located at the landward end of the 2nd Avenue Pier and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with different menus for each. Aside from breakfast the menus are primarily seafood based, but with a couple of differences that help set it apart from other seafood specialty restaurants along the Strand. Plus at Pier House there is a good selection of dishes that are not seafood and the prices are far more reasonable than many other seafood restaurants, making it a good choice for a family with kids.
The breakfast menu at the Pier House Restaurant has a good selection of the usual diner style breakfast dishes such as bacon & eggs, omelets and sandwiches. You’ll also find southern style biscuits smothered with house-made gravy topped with the eggs of your choice, and a Garden City Grit Bowl for just $10. On the lunch menu you’ll find dishes with Angus beef burgers, slow roasted pork, chicken breasts, ham and turkey alongside crab patties, shrimp dishes and blackened fish tacos. The dinner menu is a little more expensive but still very reasonably priced compared with other seafood restaurants and features area favorites like shrimp and grits made with pepper jack grits and country ham and red eye gravy, or on the slightly less expensive side, the Georgetown Grouper Reuben with fresh grouper on rye with the classic Reuben items of thousand island dressing, sauerkraut and swiss cheese.
A day in the surf or just on the beach can really give you an appetite, and the Pier House Restaurant is an excellent place to work it off. Not only is the food good, but you get to eat it while enjoying fabulous views of the beach and the ocean from the restaurant’s large bay windows.
The restaurant is a VMB Partner, so Captain’s Quarters guests should remember to take along their VMB Card to claim 50% off one appetizer with purchase of two entrees. The restaurant is open daily for breakfast from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and for dinner from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., though these hours do change seasonally so be sure to check their website or give them a call at 843-445-7437 before stopping by for your meal with a view.
