Things to do in September in Myrtle Beach Near Captain’s Quarters
Labor Day has come and gone and we are officially on the fast track to fall. But, don’t for a second think that the beach goes into hibernation mode after the summer season. Quite the opposite – actually! September is packed with fun, family friendly events that are sure to keep you busy. Check out our favorites:
Thunder and Light – September 4th, 11th, 18th, & 25th
Jeffrey Gilmore, the groundbreaking producer at the Carolina Opry, is debuting his latest creation for a limited time during the month of September, “Thunder and Light”. This one-of-a-kind show combines breathtaking multi-million dollar laser light production with the extraordinary talent of nationally renowned clogging group, All That. The two combine to create a truly spectacular experience that you cannot get anywhere else. This limited show is only offering four previews for the month of September so be sure to get your tickets early! St. John’s Greek Festival – September 25th – 27th
Opa! Gather your clan and head to St. John’s Greek Orthodox Church, conveniently located right off 29th Avenue North, to connect with your inner Greek. This annual event is a favorite among visitors and locals alike – and it’s not hard to see why! The main draw of this event is the succulent homemade cuisine. Guests can look forward to tantalizing eats like pasticcio, spanikopita, zesty potatoes, roasted lamb, gyros, moussaka, baklava, loukoumathes, and much more. Guests can also look forward to live entertainment, several local arts and crafts vendors, and a spacious kids’ play area. This event is only $1 to attend and all food items are sold separately. Just head to the church on Thursday from 11am – 9pm, Friday or Saturday from 11am – 10pm, or 12pm – 7pm on Sunday to see what all the buzz is about!
Atalaya Arts and Crafts Festival – September 28th – 28th
This family friendly festival takes place at the historic Atalaya Castle at Huntington Beach State Park and offers something for everyone! More than 100 artists from around the nation will be present showcasing their finest offerings. Guests can expect to see everything from paintings, sculptures, and handmade jewelry to blown glass, metal work, and much more. In addition, there will be a wide array of live entertainment, several food vendors, and self-guided tours of the historic Atalaya Castle. There are also tons of things that Captain’s Quarters itself is planning on doing in September (based on weather and occupancy), from Captain Sneaky and Tiki Bird appearances, to Chief Kamu’s Fire and Hula show.
