Myrtle Beach Vacation Hacks: Easy Room Recipes

Planning a Myrtle Beach vacation can be a stressful endeavor, particularly when it comes to juggling the budget. But, Captain’s Quarters Resort is here to help! Our generous seasonal specials can help you save big on your family getaway and the variety of accommodations makes it easy to find the perfect place to call your home away from home. Make the most of your vacation by opting for a room with a full or efficiency kitchen. Though these units might cost a little more up front, having access to a kitchen can help save big bucks in the long run.
If the idea of coming home hungry from a busy day at the beach doesn’t appeal to you, you aren’t alone. But fret not – take a look at these easy in-room meal ideas and make those dining dollars stretch:

Italian | Pasta Night
There’s nothing quite like a healthy dose of carbs to help you refuel after an exhausting day of soaking up the sun or attraction hopping. An Italian evening is not only easy to implement but also uber kid-friendly, ensuring the younger ones won’t fuss. Stock up on your favorite pasta, sauce, and add-ins if you’re up to it (chicken, beef, or sausage) and voila – you have a well rounded dinner in under 30 minutes! Throw in some garlic bread and a salad and you have a full blown Italian feast for minimal effort.

Mexican | Taco Night
A Mexican themed taco night is effortless in execution and requires minimal prep up front. Pack a protein (chicken, beef, or fish), a supply of soft or hard shell tacos, and your favorite accoutrements and you are all set! Cook your meat and then set up an assembly-line style toppings station. Rice, beans, or chips and salsa are easy taco accompaniments if you want to throw in a few side items as well. Ole!

Breakfast | Whatever Floats Your Boat
Breakfast for dinner is a fun way to spice things up during your vacation and is both a simple and affordable way to feed the family. Get in your protein with an egg item like cheesy scrambled or sunny side up. Then, add a sweet item, like pancakes or waffles, and a breakfast meat, like bacon or sausage, and you are in business! Items like eggs and pancakes are pretty hard to mess up, but if you are really trying to embrace the “beach time” atmosphere, opt for pre-made items that only require heating.

If you are staying in one of our suites or efficiency rooms, try a few of these tips out to maximize your in-room dining experience:

Stock the fridge with easy meal options – sandwich components, yogurt, milk (for cereal or oatmeal), etc. Other in-room essentials include cereal, easy cook meals (like easy mac, Chef Boyardee, etc.), peanut butter and jelly, and snack items like chips, granola bars, etc. You can also stock up on frozen veggies and other side items and keep those in the freezer until ready to use.
For shorter stays, pre-cook a few meals and pack them in a cooler. These can be heated up in the microwave and enjoyed later.
For extended stays, pack easy cooking aids like a crock pot or George Foreman grill that are easy to transport and can be used for in-room cooking.
