Top Water Activities to Try in Myrtle Beach

Wet n’ wild fun isn’t just restricted to bumming in on the beach! There are plenty of fun water activities to keep you busy during your beach getaway. From fishing charters to parasailing, you are sure to find the perfect water recreation to appease your whole group. Check out some of the most popular water activities and try one out:

Parasailing Myrtle Beach Water Activities

The parasail, also known as the “modified parachute”, was developed in the early 1960’s as an ascending gliding parachute and quickly found its place in the water sports industry. This exciting water activity is much easier than it looks! Guests are attached to the parachute and then placed on the end of a boat. Once the boat picks up speed, guests find themselves floating through the air behind the boat! This experience can be enjoyed solo or in a double or triple flight.

Banana Boat

Are you looking for the perfect activity that can be enjoyed as a family? If so, gather your clan and load up for a banana boat ride! Banana boats can hold up to six guests at a time and are ideal for guests of all ages. These unique blowup boats are towed behind a jet ski or boat; no experience necessary, just hold on tight and get ready to ride the waves!

Jet Ski Rentals

Jet skis are one of the most popular water activities that you can take advantage of during your stay at the beach. Though many people have ridden a jet ski on a lake or river, taking this vehicle out on the open seas is a totally different experience! Battle the waves in the open waters or, if you are looking for a more tame experience, try a rental at one of the area’s inlets (Murrells Inlet or Cherry Grove) or on the intracoastal water way; inlets and the intracoastal offer a relatively wave-free ride experience and make it easier to pick up speed.

Catamaran

Recreational catamarans are characterized by two hulls and a sail and are a fun way to mix things up and try something new during your beach trip. Many of the catamarans found in Myrtle Beach are “Hobie Cat” catamarans, a specific brand and style ideal for beach sailing. Catamarans can be enjoyed solo or can be enjoyed as a small group and the maneuvering of the vessel can easily be learned.  Set sail and feel the rush of the ocean breeze on one of these exciting sailboats!

Fishing Charter

Fishing experts and neophytes alike will enjoy the thrill of trying their hand at bringing home dinner! Fishing charters are exclusive to the coastal areas and are a great way to get out and enjoy the open sea, not to mention the excitement of reeling in the catch. Charters vary greatly with where they go (inshore versus offshore), pricing, and what you can expect to catch, so be sure to do a little research before you pick your trip.
