Families staying at Captain’s Quarters Resort during the month of August will have plenty to keep them busy. Summer is slowly coming to an end but Myrtle Beach shows no sign of slowing down any time soon! Check out some of the area’s top events and check them out during your end of summer getaway:
Beach Luau – August 11th
Why limit your beach fun to just the daytime? Those looking to extend the fun can head just down the road to our neighboring town of Surfside Beach to attend their fun beach luau night. This event is ideal for families with children and will offer plenty of family friendly fun. There will be games, live entertainment, contests, and more! Be sure to dress to impress with your finest Hawaiian attire for this exotic event that kicks off at 6pm and runs until 10pm.
Beach, Boogie, & BBQ Festival – August 29th – 30th
Bring the whole crew down to Market Common for a weekend full of finger-licking fun! This exciting event has become a favorite among visitors and locals alike – and it’s not hard to see why. With over $13,000 in cash prizes up for grabs, vendors from across the nation flock to Myrtle Beach to serve up their most succulent offerings. Get your fill of flavorful wings, pulled pork sandwiches, fall-off-the-bone-tender ribs, and much, much more. This event will also feature live entertainment, plenty of games and entertainment for the little ones, exciting contests, and a beer garden for the adults in the group. This event runs from 6pm – 9pm on Friday and 12pm – 10pm on Saturday.
Hot Summer Nights – Ongoing
August is the last full month of free, family friendly events at the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk and you won’t want to miss out on the fun; each night of the week offers something new and exciting! Monday evenings are ideal for families and offer a festive kid’s carnival with games, inflatables, roaming street entertainers, face painting, and more. Are you a fan of live music? Stop by the “I Love Sugar” stage at Plyler Park on a Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday to enjoy live music from 8pm – 11pm. Genres vary but often include beach music, rock, funk, reggae, and pop. Fridays and Saturdays offer performances from the area’s best Elvis impersonator while visitors on a Wednesday evening can enjoy live music at the “Oceanfront Bar & Grill” stage and a spectacular fireworks show over the ocean at 10pm.
