Things to do near Captain’s Quarters in December

11/27/2012

December is full of fun things to do nearby Captain’s Quarters, most with a holiday theme! Here are some of the best ones:

Holiday Events
The holiday month of December kicks off with several activities ringing in the holiday season. Santa will be landing in Myrtle Beach state park on Saturday, December 1 from 11 a.m. to around 4 p.m. So you can bring the kids to meet Santa and get a start on their wish lists.

That same day there’s also a holiday parade at Broadway at the Beach where Santa and some other holiday themed floats will be parading through Broadway at the Beach from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. You can also get some shopping done while you’re there!

Or, if you don’t have any children in tow who want to see Santa, you can head over to La Belle Amie Vineyard for their Holiday Spirits Festival. There will be live music from the Andrew Thielen Band, as well as a wine tasting and food available for purchase from Smokin’ Pit BBQ and Hunts Lexington Style Cooking. Make sure to bring your lawn chair and call the vineyard before heading out there since the event details may have changed.

Murrells Inlet holds its Christmas Parade on Dec. 2 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., if you’re unable to attend the Saturday events in Myrtle Beach, or would rather see this small town event.

There are also carriage rides through Market Common through most of December. And you can also bring kids to ElfWorks at Market Common where kids can make igloos or write letters to Santa in this special activity area. For exact dates and times of both events, go to the Myrtle Beach events page.

You can also see the Night of Thousand Candles at Brookgreen Gardens throughout the month. This annual festival features beautiful light displays you can enjoy for $16 a person and $7 for children. Dinner is also available for purchase. You can walk through the enchanted garden after dark each most weekends in December. For full event details, visit the Myrtle Beach events page.

Non-Holiday Events
If you’re not in the Holiday spirit, why not laugh instead? Comedy Cabana is holding several events in December including an open mic night competition on Dec. 5 where locals will compete to be crowned the funniest comedian.

Or if you want more of a guarantee of someone brining the funny you can go see Tim Statum at Comedy Cabana, along with Cooter Douglas and Sean O’Neill.

You can also grab some dinner at Broadway at the Beach and step outside for their fireworks display on Dec. 15 at 9 p.m. It’s one of the few times in the off-season you can enjoy fireworks over Lake Broadway.

You can also relive some punk rock days (or experience them for the first time) at the House of Blue on Dec. 29 with Less than Jake.

So no matter if you’re looking to celebrate the Holidays or just kick back and relax, Captain’s Quarters is close to all the action.
