Ripley’s Believe It or Not: Captain’s Quarters Nearby Attraction

One of the attractions you should consider taking in during your Myrtle Beach vacation at Captain’s Quarters is the Ripley’s Believe It Or Not exhibition, also called an odditorium.

Located at on Ocean Boulevard, Believe It Or Not is a franchise that has outlets in 13 states and in 6 countries internationally. The franchise, which was founded by Robert Ripley, an American cartoonist, entrepreneur and amateur anthropologist, started off as a cartoon strip, branching into radio, television and later into physical exhibitions, or odditoria.

These take on a number of different exterior shapes, such as cracked buildings and sinking ships. Ripley’s Believe It Or Not in Myrtle Beach resembles a building that has been cracked open by an earthquake.

At the entrance to Ripley’s Believe It Or Not you’ll find a band made up of robotic puppets playing an Eastern European melody, and once inside you’ll get to experience numerous oddities collected from around the world; things like a collection of tombstones that carry strange engravings, a ceremonial carved skull from Tibet, shrunken heads and a six-legged cow!

Don’t be surprised to feel as though you’ve been up-ended by a bizarre optical effect in one section of the exhibition.
