Nearby Restaurants for a Couples Getaway

All couples coming to Myrtle Beach for that romantic getaway will be wanting to dine in a restaurant that has that special ambiance, and is different from the crowded family chain restaurants that are easy to find. There are, of course, a good number of romantic restaurants in the area, it’s just a question of knowing which ones they are, and couples staying at Captain’s Quarters will find the following list a helpful guide to discovering some of the eateries that have that ‘something special’ along the Strand.

Travinia Italian Kitchen mealAspen Grille is one of those restaurants with ambiance, and on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays you can dine to the accompaniment of live smooth jazz. All of the dishes here are based on time-honored southern cuisine, and their ingredients sourced from local suppliers. This is a good choice for that casual and relaxing evening. And if you have a VMB Card (also your room key card) you can get a 10% discount on all food. The restaurant opens at 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays.

Travinia Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar is located at the Market Common and has recently become very popular for a romantic evening out. The cuisine here is contemporary casual Italian, and everything on the menu is fresh and delicious. You can try their specialty martinis or choose from their wide selection of wines.

SeaBlue Restaurant is another great choice for a romantic dinner as it is one of the finest places to eat on the Grand Strand. When you walk in you immediately find yourself immersed in a refined and luxurious atmosphere that is only enhanced by the mosaic of tiles that change color as you pass by. The menu at SeaBlue is extensive and includes favorites like pancetta ravioli, duck risotto, roasted pheasant and much more. But keep in mind this restaurant will be on the higher price end for most budgets.

Croissants Bistro is also well worth a mention, and with a VMB Card you’ll get a free appetizer with an order of two entrées. The menu here is extensive and wide-ranging, and includes a selection of traditional Southern dishes alongside European dishes. Chef Daniels sources his fresh seafood locally and his cheeses and vegetables are all from local farms, giving his cuisine a distinctly local flavor you won’t find anywhere else.

Our final choice is the Café Old Vienna, an Austrian restaurant with a plethora of Austrian and German dishes on the menu and, as a change for a Myrtle Beach restaurant, hardly any seafood. This is definitely a restaurant with a difference, one where you’ll find schnitzels, bratwurst, sauerkraut, goulash and much more. There is also a separate gluten free menu as well as a drink menu featuring Viennese coffee, some German beers and a few Austrian wines. This restaurant is tasty and different and well worth a try. It is open Tuesdays through Saturdays.
