Myrtle Beach Family Photos

Family Beach PhotosMany families that come to Myrtle Beach try to get their family photos taken on the beach. Whether you want to do it yourself or have a professional take your photos, we’ve gathered some tips for the best Myrtle Beach family photos:

Clothes: As you are packing for Myrtle Beach, be sure to pack clothes that will work best for your family photos. Many families like to wear white button-down shirts and khakis. If you are planning on coordinating, make sure everyone brings the correct clothes. Other options include neutral colors, floral or Hawaiian print, or aqua and white. Also, think about whether you want to go barefoot or wear sandals and pack what is necessary. No matter what clothing options you choose, you may want to see how the clothing options look on your family before you leave for your Myrtle Beach vacation.

Photographer: If you are going to choose a professional photographer to take your photos, you may want to check out Timeless Memories, as they offer a discount for Captain’s Quarters Resort guests who show their VMB Card. They’ll do a beach package for you, which includes an 8x10 with two wallet-sized photos or two 5x7 photos with four wallet-sized photos. If you aren’t going to choose a professional photographer, you can consider using a tripod and the self-timer. However, this should be your last resort because only a person controlling the camera can know when the perfect moment to snap the shutter will be.

Location: Plan ahead for the location of your family beach photos. Common backdrops include piers, dunes and of course, the ocean. It’s best to do your photos either early in the day or late in the evening as the sun is rising or setting, but when there is still enough light. Oftentimes the light is less harsh and it will provide for beautiful background colors. If the sun is still bright, be sure to use a flash, fill light or reflect if the sun is behind your subject or have them face the sun (but make sure there’s no squinting!).

These Myrtle Beach family photo tips should have you well on your way to creating lasting memories from your family vacation!
