Visitors to Myrtle Beach resorts and hotels have a new meeting, eating and drinking venue this summer. Loco Gecko is an exciting new restaurant and cantina at Captain’s Quarters and is located just off of Ocean Boulevard.
The restaurant offers a very casual dining experience – you can come in shorts and t-shirt or even in your swim suit – straight off the beach.
Open daily from 11.00 a.m. to 2.00 a.m. this restaurant serves dishes from a menu that includes mouth-watering burgers, nachos, chicken wings and pizza as well as salads and fresh wraps. A limited menu is served after 10.00 p.m.
To add to the ambiance of the restaurant you’ll find live music on the patio during the week. We asked one of the bar servers what the most popular drinks were in this new venue.
Margaritas are always popular, as are Coronas. Therefore we were surprised to hear that Coronitas at Locko Gecko were high on the list. Coronitas are a baby version of Corona, the ever popular Mexican beer, served upside down in a margarita.
Bahama Mamas are popular this summer – they are a cocktail containing as many as three types of Rum with Grenadine, Orange Juice and Pineapple Juice – of course the actual ingredients may vary from one bar to another.
Another popular cocktail at Loco Gecko is Sex on the Beach, which contains Peach Schnapps, Vodka, Cranberry juice and Orange juice.
One cocktail we were not able to obtain the ingredients for is the Loco Twister – presumably this is a well guarded secret!
What about prices? – well to give you an idea a White Peach Rita sells for $6, and a Taco Salad with Breadstick and a soft drink for only $5.95!
So make sure to add Locko Gecko to your list of things to check out while you’re visiting Myrtle Beach!
