Earth Day at Captain’s Quarters

By Captain's Quarters

Earth Day might not be a “holiday” but it is a great time to think about your energy consumption and how it impacts the earth as a whole.

Captain’s Quarters Resort is doing its best to decrease its energy consumption by switching the lightbulbs to newer, longer lasting and more energy efficient versions. The appliances and TVs are also slowly being replaced by more energy efficient versions.

But resort guests can also do their part to help decrease energy consumption while in their rooms. It can be tempting to leave lights on all day and night since you don’t have to worry about the electricity bill, but that wasted energy still has to be produced which has an impact on our Earth.

You also might want to consider if you need to have new towels brought in or your linens washed. There aren’t many people who wash their sheets after sleeping in them once or their towels after drying off once at home and doing so at a resort is an extravagance that does come with a price in the long run.

You should also make smart use of the settings on your room air conditioning. The temperature control setting can make it so that your room stays comfortable, while you’re out enjoying a day on the beach. When you return you can always increase the setting if you’re planning on staying in the room for a while.

If you happen to be in Myrtle Beach on Earth Day this weekend, make sure to stop by the House of Blue’s Earth Day Music Fest. It is taking place on Saturday, April 20 on the House of Blue Deck. You can enjoy the beautiful weather, hear some great local music, watch or participate in a hula-hoop contest or check out some wares from vendors. It's sure to be a great time. You can get more details from the Myrtle Beach events listings.

Keep our planet in mind this Earth Day and every day!
