Dolphin Tour: Fun for the Whole Family!

Many people get the chance to see a dolphin swimming in the ocean from a local pier, their hotel room or even while having breakfast with an ocean view, but not everyone is so lucky. There are a few boat services that offer cruises out to see the dolphins swimming in the Atlantic. One such service is the Dolphin Adventure Cruise through the Calabash Fishing Fleet. It is a bit farther than most attractions in the Myrtle Beach area, but it is well worth the drive. Plus, if anyone in the family loves seafood, Calabash is one of the premier places in the area to get some of the best, fresh and locally caught seafood.

Need more reasons to go? Here are our top 3 reasons to check out the Calabash Fishing Fleet Dolphin Adventure Cruise during your next Myrtle Beach vacation:

1. Value: Afraid that you will pay for a dolphin cruise but won’t see any dolphins? Well you don’t need to be afraid of that, because at the Calabash Fishing Fleet they guarantee you will see dolphins on your tour. If you don’t? Well then you get your next tour for free! Plus, with your VMB Card, you won’t need coupons because you will get buy one ticket get one half off (Thursdays in November, Wednesday Thanksgiving week)! Prices for the cruise are $21 for adults ages 13 and up and $18 for kids ages 4 to 12. Ages 3 and under are free. For a two-hour cruise, it is well worth the price!

2. Dolphins: Of course seeing dolphins is the highlight of the cruise. You’ll get to see dolphins within close range that are enjoying their time out at sea, frolicking in the shimmering waters of the Atlantic. Watch them as they eat shrimp and other seafood from the shrimp fisherman’s bycatch. It’s nice to be able to see them out in the wild and watch them as they really are. No more spending your relaxing time at the beach staring at the ocean to hopefully see a dolphin! Here you will see one (usually a few), and they guarantee it!

3. Educational and Fun: The Dolphin Tour guide and captain are very knowledgeable about the area as well as about fishing. On your cruise’s trek out to the ocean on the Calabash River, the captain will explain various landmarks along the way and little tidbits of information. Near the end of the trip, a shrimp boat captain will throw over some of his catch. At this time the guide pulls different sea creatures out of the basket and even lets people touch them if they want to. Just be sure to wash your hands after! He’ll also explain some interesting facts about them, like how to tell when shrimp is fresh or how to make a sand dollar white.

Be sure to call the Calabash Fishing Fleet at 866-575-0017 to make your dolphin cruise reservation!

Note: All cruises in November are weather permitting. After November cruises will resume in the spring.
