Day Trip from Myrtle Beach: Georgetown

While vacationing in Myrtle Beach you may decide that you want to branch out and explore some nearby towns. One such town that is great for a day trip from Myrtle Beach is Georgetown.

Located about 30 miles from Captain’s Quarters Resort, Georgetown is easily accessible by hopping on Highway 17 and heading south.

Known for its rich history and southern living, Georgetown is a great place to visit if you are a history buff, love small towns or just want to escape the hustle and bustle of Myrtle Beach.

Georgetown has been the site of Native American tribes, European settlements, plantations and pirate activity. One of the oldest cities in the state, Georgetown was once known as a large exporter of rice and indigo.

Its rich history can be found around every corner as various tours are offered and historical sites are open for exploring.

One such historical building which is popular for visitors is the Kaminski House Museum, which is located in the Historic District. Dating back to 1769, this historic building boasts historic décor and is a must-see for those visiting Georgetown.
